WILL IT BE A DESPERATE NEW SEASON??

SEASON 6 ; EPISODE 1

“NICE IS DIFFERENT THAN GOOD”

Well, here we are again.   Season 6 of Desperate Housewives has begun. Will it be a snoozer like Season 5, or will new life be breathed into it, now that we have a new housewife on the block?  I’m getting ahead of myself here, so let’s move on, shall we??

Anyway, season 6 starts off where season 5 left us: at the church and the wedding of Mike and the mystery woman. Was it Susan or Katherine?  Well, I’m happy to say it was Susan (for the second time). I guess Mike and Susan never really stopped loving one another and that the whole Dave Williams mess just brought them closer together.  But, just as the happy couple are walking down the aisle after their “I Do’s” they are stopped by Katherine who asks if she missed anything.

Of course, now we have to have another flashback. This time we go back in time to 8 weeks before the wedding.  I’m hoping this is the last time, because all this time traveling makes me want to take a Dramamine before each episode.

OK, we’re 8 weeks prior to Mike and Susan’s wedding, and Bree and Karl are still having their affair. Karl figures what better way to get back at Orson for trying to blackmail Bree.  Tom and Lynette discuss having twins. Lynette is fearful of the idea and Tom thinks it’ll be fun to have babies around the house again.  Mike breaks the news to Katherine, who appears to be taking it well. Or is she?  Gabby and Carlos’ niece Ana is up to her old bratty ways. She tries to go to school in skimpy clothes (concealed by a big baggy sweatshirt) which Gabby sees right through. Carlos wants Gabby to sign papers to become Ana’s legal guardians, but first Gabby needs to see an improvement in her behavior. A new family moves onto Wisteria Lane and into Edie and Dave’s old house which was also Mary Alice’s house. They seem to be running from someone or something, but we welcome newcomer Drea DeMatteo to the cast of Desperate Housewives, as Angie Bolen with her husband Nick and son Danny. I got the impression that Danny is the reason the Bolen’s are there in the first place.  Danny gets his first look at Julie as she arrives home from school for her mom’s wedding to Mike.

Now it’s 6 weeks before the wedding and Angie has already made friends with the rest of the housewives, except maybe for Bree. Susan is trying to avoid contact with Katherine and Julie has agreed to tutor Danny in math as he is going to start college very soon.  Gabby finds Ana washing the car, because she wants permission to go to a party. Gabby tells her to be home by 10, but the party doesn’t begin until 11 and Gabby says no, so Ana sneaks out anyway and Gabby has to go and drag her back home. Ana tells Gabby she figures she will be thrown out of the house anyway, since she overheard Gabby telling Carlos she wanted to keep her options open and not sign the guardian papers. Gabby signs them, making Ana fully aware that she will be on Ana like a hawk.

Danny asks Julie to go to a movie sometime, but not as a date, but as a friend. Danny’s dad tells Julie she’s too good for him. Danny and Julie have and argument later with Danny telling her she only cares about herself.  Lynette goes to the doctor with Tom for a sonogram. The twins are fine. Lynette tells Tom she feels no love at all for them, and he tells her those feelings will change once she holds them in her arms.  A delivery man leaves Susan’s dress with Katherine, who decides to be wearing it when Susan comes looking for it. Katherine has a pot of spaghetti sauce on the stove and Susan makes her remove the dress, and she needs to get over the fact that her and Mike are getting remarried. Susan tells Mike about it, and she’s mad at the fact that everyone is more concerned with how Katherine is coping with it, and Susan feels like “the other woman”.  At the church Katherine drops by to talk to Susan and wants Susan to apologize to her in front of the whole church during the ceremony. Susan refuses until Katherine threatens to make a scene.  Susan locks Katherine in a closet in the bridal chamber and gets married. As Mike and Susan prepare to leave the church they are confronted by Katherine who managed to break her way out of the closet. Mike threatens to have her physically removed. She turns to go in tears until Susan finally apologizes for not talking to her through this whole ordeal and hopes they can still be friends.  I don’t think that will happen.  But then again, what do I know?

Later that evening as Julie is taking out the trash, she is attacked from behind, choked and left for dead as a figure takes off running down the street.

What will become of Julie??

Was Danny Bolen her attacker??  And if so, why??

And what is up with the rest of the Bolen Family??  Why did they move from wherever they were??  Did they move because of Danny as was the impression I’m sure we all got from the episode??  I think the Bolens are mob connected, but then again, what do I know??

What will become of Bree and Karl’s affair??  What will become of Orson and Bree’s marriage??  Where was Andrew??  Will Katherine ever recover??  And why was one of Carlos and Gabby’s daughters missing from this episode??

I have to watch and findout just like the rest of you!!

All I will say is that this was a great episode, and it looks like Desperate Housewives is back to being the show I know I fell in love with. But, then again, what do I know??

Until Next Time…

Happy Viewing!!

Madonna’s “Celebration” Single Best Yet?

Madonna's 40th number one dance single!

Madonna's 40th number one dance single!

Madonna’s “Celebration” Single

A whole lot can be said about this single so let’s not waste anytime here..with lyrics and that infamous laugh half way through the song, I knew instantly that this was going to be a smash single for the Queen of Pop. A review of the single tells us Madonna has been paying attention to Radio Pop Culture, Everything about this song screams #1. For these following reasons…

1. Eye Candy Video

2. Melodic and Catchy as hell.

3. It’s Madonna for God’s sake…well it is….

The remixes for this single while still not on track with were I think they should be, they are decent for what it is. Out of all of them I still tend to favor the album version, or the Benny Benassi remix. Paul Oakenfold turns in some respectable mixes and stays very close to the original mix.

Johnny Vicious turns in an ok remix, but it just doesn’t do as much for me as it could. The bass is tight and the beats are nice, but it just falls a little flat.

The other remix that is outstanding here is the Felguk Love Remix. it’s Electro stabs and “Do It”, “Feel Good” samples are very much appreciated. I think we will see a lot more mixes from this producer!

This is most likely the best Madonna single since “Vogue” in my opinion, almost her best!

***As of writing this I have found out that “Celebration” is Madonna’s 40th Number One song on the Dance Airplay Chart on Billboard! Congrats!***

“Let’s get it started, yeah.” Madonna’s “Celebration”

Madonna “Celebration”

Ok Madonna fans we have a new double CD collection called “Celebration” While most of the material here is nothing new, in fact only two new songs are in this collection, the question I have to ask is…Do you need this in your collection.

I started my Madonna collection with her first 12′ Vinyl Single “Everybody”

Madonna's First Single Everybody

most people who remember that far back will remember that song…and it’s exactly like the “Celebration”.  Why?

This is the last CD for record company Warner Brothers, and my guess is that she wanted to go out with a bang, and this collection doesn’t disappoint. Starting off with “Hung Up” at first listen you can tell that this has been tweaked and remastered and then I remember ALL the songs have been remastered!

So what’s different on this collection? Well lets see “Vogue” is longer with the spoken intro “What are you looking at?” “Holiday” is the original extended version, “Into The Groove” appears to be the original extended as well. “Secret” has been remastered and now the guitars are crystal clear and gorgeous. Just the remasters of the original’s should be enough for you to get this great dance collection. One omission that I find odd is that “Crazy For You” is on here instead of “Gambler”200px-Madonna-Gambler

“Revolver” the first new single on CD1, is a techno romping song with grunting and sawing synths. The beats are tight and this is one song I can’t wait to bump and grind to out on a dance floor.

“Celebration” the current single driving the set, is possible one of Madonna’s finest pop gems ever. Back in playful mode, this song is already a smash across many charts, and recently spent 4 weeks on top of my own dance chart.

To compliment this set Madge has also graciously put out a DVD collection of all the videos as well.

Again while there are only two new songs on this collection “Celebration” proves why Madonna has stayed in the public eye all these 27 years. So get your copy, you won’t be disappointed you did!

Barbra Streisand: Love Is The Answer, Is It?

Babs first studio album since 2005's "Guilty Pleasures"

Babs first studio album since 2005's "Guilty Pleasures"

Streisand releases “Love Is The Answer”

I have been a huge Barbra Streisand fan, seen her in concert and collected every recording that she has done. I have to say that this new CD while still vocally grand. Something is missing…

The set starts off with the slow “Here’s To Life”. I’m sad to say that there is nothing new to report with this lead off track. “In The Wee Small Hours Of Morning.” is a nice jazz infused with Streisand’s perfect pitch as she gets more intimate with us the listener. The third track from the CD is “Gentle Rain” this has a little more melody and a very lush orchestral feel. The tinkling of the piano is a very nice touch and adds to the flavor of the song. “If You Go Away” the next track has Barbra singing in French and If you ask me this is one of the most experimental track on the CD and it DOESN’T Work!

I had to skip a few songs till I got to the sultry “Love Dance” because at this point the whole album so far had put me to sleep. “Smoke Get’s InYour Eyes” is perhaps the best track on this whole CD.

It’s a shame really I’m sure that fans will like this CD, but for me “Love Is The Answer” is nothing more then a backdrop to eat dinner too. It’s nothing you’ll want to listen to while you commute in your car, because the energy is so slow. Not to mention that I got the Deluxe version which is nothing more then orchestral versions next to stripped down versions. My money is on the stripped down quartet versions.

Can we even begin to compare this to 2005’s “Guilty Pleasure’s”? Nope, the songs there were moving and different. This CD takes no risks, goes in no new direction and does absolutely nothing for me.

So let’s review this in a nutshell…Barbra sings new songs (Check) Is her voice in form (Check) Is this something you’ll get excited about… I doubt it… Be the judge for yourself!
